White Christmas

Bing Crosby

It seems my new tradition is listening to a new Christmas album every holiday season. I enjoyed White Christmas more than last year’s (A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector), but I think A Charlie Brown Christmas still tops my list because vibes.

I really enjoyed listening to this album, and listening to these classics through headphones was a completely new experience as I could hear details I couldn’t otherwise hear while listening in a car. Every song is beautifully arranged and orchestrated, with Crosby’s smooth, warm, and rhythmically-free voice on top. The album is cohesive and colorful, and I like the blend of traditional hymns with various jazz styles.
