Tracy Chapman

Tracy Chapman

“Fast Car” was a song that I’ve always known about but never took the time to listen to closely or understand. I, like others, quickly came to this album after Chapman’s Grammys performance.

This album is beautiful, heavy, and discerning, with many tracks focused on social justice. Lyrically, my favorite track is “Behind the Wall,” a vignette that amazed me the first time I read the lyrics. Sonically, it’s well-produced, aesthetic, and a pleasing listen.

Favorite tracks: “Across the Lines” and “Mountains O’ Things”
