Sampha

I started searching out Sampha after seeing his appearance on Alicia Keys’ Song Exploder episode, after which I learned of his extensive collaborations. (I didn’t realize how often I’ve heard him without knowing. BTW, check out Sbtrkt, which he’s featured heavily on.)

This album is sonically pleasant, well-balanced, and well-produced. The writing and lyrical themes are beautiful, and the instrumentation is full but never feels chaotic (I especially love all the keys and the percussive piano part on “Dancing Circles”).
