COWBOY CARTER

Beyoncé

Unfortunately, this was my first time critically listening to a Beyoncé album end-to-end. I think it’s an excellent album, and I especially enjoy how meticulous everything about it is and how genre-bending and genre-defying it is.

The vocal layering on some tracks blew me away and reminded me of a Jacob Collier Logic session. The bridge when she breaks out the aria in “DAUGHTERS” is 🤌; her tone is so good and sounds like a cello. I also liked how smooth the transitions were between tracks.

(Also, I pre-ordered the CD version on Amazon and am sad to say that it’s missing tracks that the digital versions have 🥺.)

Favorite tracks: “DAUGHTER,” “RIVERDANCE,” and “TYRANT,” though the whole thing is great to listen to end-to-end.
